Our Story

Since 2015, the idea of Joumou Ayiti began to germinate in the mind of a person who loves Haiti. This is how he wanted to know why pumpkin soup has so much influence and importance in the culture of the Haitian people. It became a passion for him. In 2018, the experiment with Joumou began, in order to discover how Joumou can enter into all kinds of what Haitians eat. The first thing that was done for the story was pumpkin juice and pumpkin cake. It was good. After that, we had the idea of pumpkin cream and now there are more than 100 ways to consume pumpkin. Thus, in 2020, we are registered as a commercial company in the Ministry of Commerce under the name of “JOUMOU-Ayiti”.

Haiti and the Giraumon

The giraumon (Joumou) as a symbol of Haitian culture and national identity. An initiative to strengthen pride and self-esteem among young Haitians here and abroad on the occasion of the celebration of the 220th anniversary of independence.

Pumpkin soup is the memory of the Haitian people and it must serve to revive our dream of freedom. It is the first community meal that introduced our independence. There is a time in the history of Haiti when the Haitian man was not allowed to eat pumpkin because this fruit was too substantial for the body and mouth of a slave. The consumption of this fruit remained practically ignored for more than two hundred years in Haiti.

Thus, we want to build, with pumpkin, the collective memory of the Haitian people. Build a community where living together is the rule. We want pumpkin to become an organic culture, that is to say, the culture without chemistry, the culture without poison for the body.
